Already Have Moen Flo? Here’s What to Know About FloProtect

Aaron Mielke, Owner • October 5, 2026

Understanding the optional subscription, its benefits, and why enrollment is a separate homeowner decision

You have a Moen Flo system installed, your app is connected, and you can check your home’s water activity from your phone. Then you hear about something called FloProtect.

Is it part of your installation? Do you need it for the system to work? And what does the monthly fee actually provide?

These are useful questions to ask, whether you already own a Moen Flo device or are considering one. Understanding the difference between the equipment and the optional plan helps you choose what makes sense for your home.

Moen Flo and FloProtect Serve Different Purposes

The Moen Flo Smart Water Monitor & Shutoff is the equipment installed on your home’s main water line. It monitors water activity and can send alerts or shut off the water when it detects certain unusual conditions.

Plumbrite Services provides professional Moen Flo installation and setup, including app connection and a homeowner walkthrough.

FloProtect is an optional paid plan from Moen. You do not have to subscribe to FloProtect to use the device’s standard water-monitoring and shutoff features.

What Does the $5 Monthly Plan Include?

Moen currently lists FloProtect at $5 per month. Its benefits include an extended limited product warranty and a performance guarantee that may reimburse up to $5,000 of a qualifying homeowners insurance deductible. Both benefits have requirements and limitations.

The subscription is separate from purchasing and installing the equipment. When comparing your options, consider the ongoing cost alongside the benefits available to your particular device.

What Does the Deductible Guarantee Actually Mean?

The deductible benefit applies to qualifying catastrophic water damage directly attributable to a failure of the Moen Flo device. It is not a payment for every leak or every water-damage event.

Moen requires proper installation, an active Wi-Fi connection, an eligible device failure, a current subscription, and supporting insurance-claim documentation. Damage during the initial learning period is excluded, as is damage caused by rain, floods, storms, and other natural events.

FloProtect is a product warranty, not homeowners insurance. Review Moen’s complete FloProtect terms before enrolling. solutions.moen.com

Enrollment Timing Matters for the Extended Warranty

The extended limited warranty runs through five years from installation and activation, subject to Moen’s terms. It does not begin a fresh five-year period whenever you subscribe.

For ordinary eligibility, enrollment must occur before the first anniversary of the purchase date, or delivery date for online purchases. Continuous subscription payments are also required. If your device is older or your subscription has lapsed, ask Moen which benefits remain available before enrolling. solutions.moen.com

Why Plumbrite Does Not Automatically Enroll Customers

Plumbrite Services does not automatically enroll installation customers in FloProtect because it carries a recurring monthly charge. That decision belongs to the homeowner.

Installing the system and choosing a paid subscription are separate steps. Plumbrite can explain the equipment and installation process, while Moen provides the plan’s enrollment information and determines benefit eligibility.

A Useful Conversation for Arizona Homeowners

If you travel frequently or own a seasonal residence, understanding your water-monitoring system is especially useful. Our article about what happens when your home springs a leak while you’re away explains how alerts and automatic shutoff can help you respond sooner.

Already have Moen Flo? Check your purchase records and subscription status. Considering installation? Start with the equipment, your home’s plumbing, and how you plan to use the system, then review whether the optional plan fits your needs.
